A Master in Business Administration degree is one of the most prestigious that anyone can receive. Graduate students receive it by taking courses in such subjects as finance, marketing, customer relations, operations management and human resources, and many choose to specialize in one or another of these fields. Having been awarded the degree, the recipient can then go on to work as an executive in some major company, perhaps becoming the head of the human resources or other department. This article will be exclusively about the MBA online programs offered at Norwich University — the Military College of Vermont. This private institution is located in Northfield and is the oldest of the nation’s six senior military colleges; its honors will be mentioned at the end of the article.
It is possible to graduate from Norwich University in as little as two years after taking all online courses that count towards an MBA. Groups of students who progress with each other until graduation consist of a maximum of sixteen. Three possible areas of concentration may be pursued by those who are working towards the degree:
- Finance: covers forex markets, the international financial environment, multinational corporation management, portfolio management
- Organizational leadership: skills required for managing a modern-day multinational organization, including change management and models of organizational behavior
- Project management: This is one of the most important and responsible jobs that anyone can have, as those who regularly watch The Apprentice well know. The student in this field learns such skills as procuring assets, risk management, communication, life cycles and strategic problem solving.
A free brochure that outlines the MBA curriculum may be ordered on Norwich’s website. The form is on the left side of the screen (unlike at other universities, where it is on the right). The applicant simply selects the highest level of education he or she has completed, fills in his first and last names (separately) and gives his ZIP code, phone number and email address.
Norwich University has received accreditations from two bodies:
- the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs
- the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc. (through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education)
Its MBA program has been placed in the top quarter by U. S. News and World Report.

A lot of the last generation has discovered that an education isn’t carrying them as far as they were told it would. With jobs at a premium, many are out-of-work and frustrated, unable to find the work they need to get experience to get further work. It’s a vicious cycle, and many have turned to unpaid internships in hopes of finding paid work down the line. However, many ingenious former-students have turned to a different solution and begun to seek out blue collar work. Many grew up told they had to go to college or get stuck flipping burgers, but a few are re-learning that there are other options.
Being willing to get your hands dirty and apply elbow grease to your day-to-day vastly opens your options for employment. The solution is to simply pursue vocational studies. Most communities have businesses that offer the necessary training and certification, and it’s often possible to begin working as a part of your training, which ultimately results in getting paid much earlier than if you’d pursued a white-collar career.
Choosing an industry to work in is the first thing. The second thing is pursuing certification. HVAC certification is often considered a good starting point to look into as HVAC training is prevalently available and researching it can be somewhat easier, and understanding it will help you better understand other industries as well. Those facing possible underemployment should be willing to consider alternate paths to a stable livelihood; don’t bet everything on pushing papers!

If you’re the owner or manager of a business that markets products or services via the Internet, then you definitely need to be knowledgeable about ecommerce. This is just as true for those who have bricks and mortar locations as well as those whose companies are online-only.
Payment Processing
Being able to accept credit cards through your website is a key to success for any online business. Whether customers are purchasing products to be shipped to their homes, ordering catering or baking services for pick-up or local delivery or paying for coaching sessions, being able to handle credit card processing online smoothly and efficiently is something that they will expect.
Website Usability
Not all websites are created equal. Your website needs to provide helpful information about your products or services, and it needs to be very easy to use. Your site should be created with usability in mind, so that you can be sure that the site is one that potential customers will find t be easy-to-navigate and to make purchases through.
Search Engine Optimization
Building a website alone is not sufficient for successfully marketing products and services online. Making certain that your website is fully optimized for search engine ranking is another important key for success. The search engine optimization (SEO) process involved taking proactive steps to ensure that your site does well when it comes to search engine positioning to increase the likelihood that people searching for the types of products and services that you have to offer are likely to find your site.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Kia Rio for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
Companies are certainly getting more creative in the way the market and promote their vehicles! Kia recently came up with something that I think is a really creative and interesting way to raise awareness of an interest in the fun and sporty Kia Rio 5-door model.
What did Kia do that’s so great? A scavenger hunt. That’s right – a scavanger hunt. But, not just any hunt. What they did is send two sets of best friends off to Los Angeles to participate in the Zip and Dash geocache challenge – an event that involves searching for clues that will (for the lucky winners!) lead to locating popular celebrity Christina Milian.
During the event, they completed a number of challenges at various landmarks and hot spots throughout L.A. – going from one spot to another in a Kia Rio, of course! Locations where participants searched for hidden clues include The Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round, Amoeba Records (probably the most challenging), Pink’s Hot Dogs and The Roosevelt Hotel (the one I’d really love to visit!), all in efforts to score the grand prize of meeting a famous Hollywood celebrity, Christina Milian.
What better car to use on this type of hunt than a Kia Rio? The 2012 model the participants used was fully equipped with tons of bells and whistles, including Bluetooth, a USB jack, a rear camera display and – of course – a navigation system. It’s hard to beat the UVO Technology that’s built in to this fun vehicle.
All of these features are terrific, though I think the USB jack just might be my favorite. Of course, the nav system is probably what really helped the scavenger hunt participants. Check out the car for yourself in the featured video or learn more via the Rio Explorer Page on Kia’s website. Post your comments here to let others know what you think.
